Does weight loss camp work better for men or women?
Gender does play a role in your journey to a healthier weight - but the differences equal out over time. Studies have shown that men typically lose more weight in the first few weeks after starting a weight loss program. Over the longer term however, women will generally catch up. [6]
This is why it's crucially important that you think of your time at weight-loss camp as a jump start, rather than a quick fix. The habits, strength and motivation you build while you're here are going to keep you moving forward towards your goals in the coming months after you return home.
Am I too old to exercise and lose weight?
If you're over 50, you may have noticed that staying in shape brings new challenges. This is completely normal - but it's no reason to quit! On the contrary - maintaining a healthy weight and staying regularly active are the most powerful tools you have to reverse the effects of age, and give yourself more years of quality time ahead. [7]

Is weight-loss camp like boot camp in the military?
While it's true that our founder is a United States Marine Corps veteran, our fitness retreat is nothing like Parris Island. Nobody will scream in your face, make you do 100 push-ups, or put you on latrine duty.
You aren't here to get toughened up for war - you're with us to have a good time while improving your health and hopefully starting down the path to a long-term healthier lifestyle. We do provide structure and support - but it's a completely different approach.

Am I too out-of-shape to participate?
The goal of fat camp is to help guests dealing with overweight or obesity challenges lose weight, raise their self-confidence, self esteem and self-image, and teach them healthy life skills and choices. [8] Generally speaking, we are here specifically to help out-of-shape people improve their health. Our team has the training and experience to help clients will all kinds of health issues.
This being said, there are certain health conditions which could prevent you from attending our program - or any residential weight loss program. If you have concerns, we welcome you to reach out and talk them over with us.
Do you accept kids and teenagers?
We understand that summer fat camps and weightloss camps for kids and teens are popular, and that children deal with obesity issues just like their parents do. [9]
Weight Crafters however, is specifically designed for the needs and goals of adult participants. We do not provide the kind of supervision required for children, and any prospective guest under the age of 18 who wishes to attend must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Is this like The Biggest Loser?
Not exactly.
Weight loss is a long-term commitment to your health and your future. At Weight Crafters we prioritize reducing body fat while preserving and building lean muscle. This approach means that while you will certainly see your overall weight decrease on the scale, the more important change will be how you look in the mirror and how much better you feel. [10] This is why we perform full body assessments, as well as before and after photos. You'll appreciate coming home 10, 20 or 30lbs lighter - but what you'll really love is how many inches you shave off, and how noticeable this change will be for your friends and co-workers back home.
We also won't purposely tempt you with cakes, cookies and snacks strategically placed in front of hidden cameras. We promise!
Will I be hungry at weight loss camp?
A common misconception about adult fat camp programs is that you'll spend 10 hours per day on a treadmill and be rewarded with tiny, bland meals that leave you starving. Nothing could be further from the truth!
At Weight Crafters, you'll be eating three substantial meals per day, prepared for you by our team. By choosing healthy ingredients and delicious recipes, we make sure you feel satisfied while getting exactly the right amount of calories for sustainable fitness activity and net weight reduction.
Can I really reverse diabetes by losing weight, or is that a myth?
The truth is, it depends. For most people recently diagnosed, type 2 diabetes can be reversed with significant weight loss. Your chances of full remission however, will vary depending on how long you've been diabetic and whether you can maintain a healthy body weight long-term.
The key to type 2 diabetes is your personal fat threshold - that is, the amount of fat your body can handle before insulin production begins to diminish. New research has shown that recently-diagnosed type 2 diabetics can experience a success rate of up to 90% in reversing the disease [11] if they lose enough weight to allow their insulin-producing beta cells to recover and begin functioning properly - but that weight loss must be maintained, or the disease will immediately re-surface.
