If there's one thing I've learned in life it's that you NEED a back up plan.

We can try to "will away" the bad stuff, but do you honestly believe that nothing bad will ever happen in your life?  Besides that, it's not what happens to us that determines our success; it's how we deal with what happens to us.

Read any book or watch any movie (especially the biographical ones) and you'll discover that the main character in the story comes off heroic, not because of how lucky they were, but how they triumphed over some negative thing in their life.  Iron is shaped through fire, and our destinies are shaped through adversity.  That being said, we need to have an alternate workout plan for those times when life gets in the way.  I've seen too many people use that as an excuse (myself included) not to believe in the necessity for a Plan B.  Your goals, and therefore your workouts and meals, are too important not to have one.

These are the events you'll need to plan for - and my remedies.

These are remedies that have worked for me and some of my clients.  They may not necessarily work for you.  If not, come up with your own.

Lack of motivation

I keep a stockpile of motivational videos, songs, and audio clips ready to pump me up, should the need arise.

Lack of time

I have a workout I can complete in less than 20 minutes.

Spousal disapproval

Sometimes my wife tries to make me feel guilty for going to workout (and thus spending more time away from my family).  I have built up an arsenal of comebacks for everything she has to say.  Sometimes I have to get a little bent out of shape and say, "This is important to me."  It is vital that the important people in your life understand how dedicated you are in your quest to get fit and healthy.

Lack of equipment

Sometimes you find yourself in a situation where you are ready to work out, but equipment is not available.  Maybe you're traveling ... Maybe your gym is shut down for repairs ... Maybe it's just one piece that's important to your workout, but somebody's "camped out" there and won't let you work in.  It happens, and when it does, you need to have workout options that require little to no equipment.  From resistance bands to body weight exercises, the Internet abounds with dozens of options for workouts where equipment is not a factor.

Lack of momentum

There may be more of these obstacles, but most of them will boil down to one of these categories. This list should give you some ideas on overcoming the obstacles in your life.  Remember the words of Henry Ford: "Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal."
