Why does CFS use Plyometrics?

Originally named by Fred Wilt, a former US Olympic long-distance runner, after observing Soviet athletes. Plyometrics has developed into two distinct forms - Shock Plyometrics and Low Impact Plyometrics. We utilize the latter form.

Plyometric techniques include Squat Jumps, Lateral Jumps, Power Skipping, Tuck Jumps, and many more. They all however, share the same primary goal - to force the muscles into an "explosive" tension, for a very brief amount of time, repeatedly.

At CFS, we use plyometrics to improve muscle strength, agility and speed. It also serves as a good "warm up" activity, leading into more advanced workouts.
